Our story
Music Gateway is a global platform with a team of people behind it that work passionately to provide products and services that help create a level playing field of opportunity and productivity for creative professionals worldwide through unique solutions and cutting edge technology. We want to save people time, improve quality, increase opportunity and generally be helpful.
We started in 2011 in a shed in our founder’s back garden with a dream. Now we work with some of the biggest brands in the creative industries as well as the best up and coming talent across the world to help their projects go from dream to reality.
From passion to platform - the founder's story
Music Gateway is the brainchild of our CEO & Founder, Jon Skinner. His eureka moment came to him mid-bath (seriously) whilst thinking back on his career in music and the struggles he had. The struggles getting the funding for the cost of new music, getting the right people into the studio, getting his music heard by the right people and the other pain points that generally come from the music industry.
At this point, Jon had come out of the music industry and was running a successful tech company within the nightclub photography world. It was this experience combined with his music career past that spurred him to create the ultimate platform for creatives. And so from humble beginnings started a company with a humble goal; empower creatives.
Jon loves supporting artists, songwriters, producers, because understanding their struggles is part of his make up: Jon's experience spans 27 years across the industry starting as a House DJ and progressing into production and writing before owning several labels and a publishing company.
This is a message and a mantra that is continued through the rest of the team working on our mission of empowering creatives and is something that everything we do and everyone who represents us takes absolute pride in.
